  1. 10/10 song, decent kills, gj.
  2. Nice banner mate, pretty dope simplistic, and yet eloquent.
  3. Good luck in life Dan, hope to see you around. I'm heartbroken to hear about Nick.
  4. Honestly it kind of makes sense, think about it "Bind" even his name suggests he stops things. Now let's analyze the other part of his name, "u dead" basically implying he's going to suffer a fate of only dying and not getting kills. If this isn't the biggest roatpkz conspiracy I don't know what is.
  5. I think it'd be a nice idea if time zone was a factor when choosing potential staff, but yeah finding new people who would put in the time and effort is hard enough like Zoradz mentioned. If you have a help cc, or yell out to ask if anyone needs assistance it is generally stigmatized, best you can do is help out whenever you get asked, or see a distressed person and offer your assistance. I can imagine it being tough to find someone with all of those attributes or enough. - Activity -Average to high level eagerness to help. -Actually applying. -Possibly good reputation.
  6. My buddys quitting? nooooo, nice pk video though Arun.
  7. Peace my man Chayz, and good luck.
  8. I tried downplaying the word usage, and trying to adapt to roat lingo, no one likes a thesaurus man, and ha. I'll apologize on my part for making this thread "blow out of proportion", however if common ground can be found and I believe it has then great. I applaud Yoobs for taking the time to discuss this with us, I applaud any staff member who takes what we've said today and perhaps apply it. If nothing changes then it is what it is.
  9. I laughed, glad you have a sense of humor. Once you've put a label on someone out in the public, then automatically your perceived notion of them will affect your job. How they interact or your interaction with them will undoubtedly be affected by feelings which has no place in punishment. I don't want staff to hold someones hand, but they should be role models, trust means their behavior is on a pedestal. Everyone understands the idea of "fire is hot, I got burned must not touch fire", however if fire decides to actively engage you and feeds on the drama you fuel it with then that becomes a problem. Staff should deescalate, the issue that has been brought before us is staff escalation, from small snippets of conversations and multiple people telling you this it should absolutely be discussed; hence the fire extinguisher would be the peoples dissent. Pulling the trigger on someone who legitimately has broken the rules and proof provided, no one would have a problem with. Keep in mind I am not defending any specific person or group, I am saying a system that punishes conflict but thrives off it as well is not something we should advocate. If you get rid of someone from the community for previous bad behavior that is unholy repugnant, because it sets the precedent that anyone disliked by the ruling class can be excommunicated. As long as they obviously break a rule, but what you're suggesting is getting rid of them for past shit, how about no only person who should be able to do that is Gretar himself. Hell Gretar can get rid of you for pretty much anything regardless of rule break, "hey you just paid me 5k? and have been a model community member? well I'm kicking you out". As unlikely as that would be, I still would not have complaints even if he did that, mostly because it's in the TOS. It doesn't seem hypocritical if they are not held to the same standards, it is hypocritical. I don't know the age demography of our community but obviously it varies, I'd estimate between 15-20+, I am myself above the age of 20. Like I said diversity is great, while English is the pre dominant spoken language in this game, for the sole fact Jagex is located in the UK, and this is a mock up of their product, it doesn't mean we should favor intolerance over acceptance because they "speak funny". And, I hope this clears it up for you as well.
  10. Perhaps then being here in a more involved manner? my mistake however. Actually, I don't know you that well, I'll leave it to you to correct.
  11. When I said heat in the moment I meant as in hot headed, I'll list some examples for you. Yesterday or so, this one gentleman I forget his name and you were have a discussion, he didn't seem to be flaming or stepping over a boundary but you deadpanned told him to shut up and not make another peep. That itself encroaches on someones liberty to freely express themselves, and it honestly shocked me. Maybe Roatpkz is a unique culture, but where does the banter begin and end? I freely see Mods and you alike using the N word and not just the "a" ending either, if between friends whatever. However even in your own examples, you say things like typing or speaking like an Arab, how do you not realize that would alienate your Arabic friends, and brothers in your community. Rather then putting them down, raise them up to be encouraged to speak better English, maybe by pming them mistakes, linking them to grammar websites. Roatpkz is a diverse place, but rather than being tolerant of said cultures it seems like people take the good and shit on the bad. Using insults like "Ks amk" and other phrases alike. I certainly believe you should have more powers, however to the extent that John does? absolutely not forum admin has a specific title for a reason. The power to close or delete threads can be abused if more people are allowed the ability. The system Gretar was proposing has its flaws on one hand, it limits, on the other hand bureaucracy you have to go through, that being said unless it's a website advertiser, or someone releasing personal information; time of the essence is not a factor that should be considered. You're saying you are not making the argument that they are not toxic, but then you say it is the truth I was confused there. When I say fighting fire with fire, I mean you have been seen by people getting into petty arguments and then coming out the victor simply by having the authority to punish said individual. You say you've never made the argument that you don't paid to do this bullshit? That's from your thread "General chat about staff" When I say you don't have to be perfect, I do mean that people give shit to John about being biased but they don't link evidence. John rarely posts, because he may or may not be about quality, in return he does not end up in squabbles and is above reproach on the matter. Aside from the occasional banter, bare in mind you have been here for 2 years he's been here less, but he does not play the game either meaning even less dirt on his character. Look everyone understands the arguments it's tough dealing with a community of 200+ people, the only thing however everyone is screaming at you to understand is to be the bigger man. As in don't get in petty arguments, have fun in any kind of banter you want as long as it is in good nature. However the moment you become the person you repudiate, you lose any footing you lose any respect because respect is a two way street. There are so many options to deal with annoying members and adolescents, ignore feature, communication strictly with business if they've been punished, direct them to the right resources and then get out of that toxic conversation in itself.
  12. I'd like to thank Yoobs for the things he has done before starting, and why gg well for opening up a dialogue that needs to be had. I think it's an inherently flawed system, when a staff member isn't putting himself above what he's suppose to be in oversight of and routinely breaks the rules himself. That being sticking to the letter of the law, rather than going by brash heat in the moment decisions. However when you make the argument "oh this player" or this "group is toxic", and "they started it first so I'm merely fighting fire with fire" that's beyond mind boggling it's literally the definition of a childish argument. You're already showing bias by saying they're toxic, but when someone calls you out for doing the same thing your excuse is "it's so stressful doing this unpaid job" it's not mandatory slave labor. It's as simple as resigning, however if you're going to keep your job then don't use that excuse, because it is very hard to have sympathy for someone who's demeanor and morals matches those he punishes, not a single person will ask you to be perfect. When the owner himself has to come out and say enough is enough, with the brazen unmatched in game punishments linked to forum punishments and gives the power to one or two staff members it says enough. The fact you cried folly and threatened to quit to go to another server screams control issues, keep in mind any minor thing you want added I'm sure John is perfectly capable of downloading a simple plugin on the forums. Requesting an ip from John/Zoradz is not a big deal, for the most part you wouldn't even need one.
