It's meant like, if u buy 100 donor points (10K value) its $10, if u buy super mystery box for $10 its avg reward is 12K PKP.

If you buy donor points it's because you want to buy a certain item. If you buy super mystery box and get something you didn't want, you sell back to store (average) 12k - 65% = 7.8k, but I guess that's why it's a gamble. I can certainly understand why some would be tempted.
