Popular Post Fancy Boots
Welcome to Fancy Boots' NH'ing guide. Hope this helps some of you out. (Created due to the amount of requests ingame). (P.S. DON'T QUOTE THIS. TAKES UP ALOT OF SPACE. ALL QUOTES WILL BE DELETED). ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Well, first thing is first. F-keys and mouse. I've NH'd for years, and although NH'ing without F-Keyswould be possible, it would put you so far behind almost immediately and you would continuously be outclassed due to this. Your computer/laptop should have a form or equivalent of BIOS menu, which is usually accessible during start-up, look on the internet for "Accessing BIOS menu" you shouldn't have a problem. Trust me, you wont get a kill without your F-keys. The F-Keys that you should use are: F1. (Inventory). - F3/F6. (Prayer Book). - F4 (Magic Book). - F5 - (Attack Options). ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Prayers. First Set. Defensive Prayers. These are what you see every NH using. These consist of Magic, Range and Melee Protection Prayers. These are crucial for when you NH, as the process and concept of NH'ing is utilizing these in order to have a strong advantage over the player, so that he's dealing as little damage as possible, whereas you're dealing the maximum that the game gives you due to him unable to use them as efficiently or correctly, or not using them what-so-ever. Second Set. Offensive Prayers.Okay, so in order to utilize the prayer book to the maximum effect that you can achieve, I would recommend learning how to 15% prayer switch once you are experienced and comfortable changing your protection prayers. (15% prayer's are reference to the Prayers that increase your offensive damage output by 15%, so: "Eagle-eye", "Ultimate Strength", and "Mystic Might".) This is because they increase your damage by a large amount if the attack is caught correctly (Not on the corresponding prayer) and, by atleast 1-2 points of damage if caught on the corresponding prayers. Also, to note. Protection prayers HAVE A DELAY ON PURPOSE. This is to give the server a more authentic feel and much more skill required in order to No Honour Player Kill. You will have to have the corresponding protection prayer on BEFORE the attack animation takes place, as the calculations of the hit are calculated when that happens. (Look at any NH'ing PK video on Runescape Pre-EoC or OSRS, there is a DISTINCT prayer delay purposefully.) [However, the delay at the moment is too long. I am hoping this is fixed within the next update.] ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Just to remind you...It's NH. Do and use whatever you would like in correlation on how you would like to NH, either Main, 20Defence or 1Defence is really all I see, with 20Defence becoming more-so obsolete now as the bonuses hardly make a difference. I can really only give input for Pure NH'ing, as that's really all I have extensive experience in. (However, what I would recommend not using would be Gmauls, and Abysaal whips). ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Setups that I recommend. The first thing that you will notice in most NH'ers is that where they place their gear is rather up to suggestion on where the most effective position is, however honestly it's up to a number of factors. These being: Speed in relation to Protection and Offensive Prayers, Speed when in relation to Barrages, and Speed in relation to attacking the target. As there are different positions for setups for each one of these problems that should help some-what. The first being: Speed in relation to Protection and Offensive Prayers. So, the setup that I am about to show should help with this problem as when the Prayer Tab button, (F3) is pressed, the cursor should be hovering over the Protection Prayers, and therefore not far away from the offensive prayers either when pressed after performing a switch. Speed when in relation to Barrages. So, if you're having the problem of catching fast barrages when you switch to your Magic gear, I would recommend using this set-up. (Also, only one item of switching is highlighted, mainly because you want to finish the switch on that specific item, so you can go: Staff-Cape-Bottoms-F4-Click for instant switching and Barrage clicking without movement of the mouse). (This one is much less used now because of the possibility to change the location of barrage very close to the Mystic Might Offensive Prayer). - Speed in relation to attacking your target. This would usually be the one I recommend, but as I've said previously, it's entirely upon personal preference. This one allows you to have your gear relatively close to the upper-left side of the screen, and with good Camera control with the Mouse Scroll button, can have this near enough touching your opponent so that you can switch and click on him very fast, allowing for faster attacks and 1ticks. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Switches for a Beginner. For a starter, I would recommend speed and simplified versions of gear and set-ups as possible. So, this way would allow you to switch inbetween attack styles relatively fast, and therefore give you an advantage when preparing to attack your opponent as you're ready for your next switch or fakie or movement.(Pre-note, as you're a beginner, I would not recommend a Dragon Scimitar as your main focus should be learning how and when to spec, and with a dragon scimitar you may not get opportunities to spec correctly, which prolongs the learning curve.)So, these are the setups I would recommend for Beginners. (In the different gear Set-ups discussed earlier.)Fast attacks after switches.Fast Barrages on Opponent.Fast Prayer switches. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Why all them potions? Explaining the potion count. (And how to use them.)(FYI I understand that there isn't any Super Attack and Magic potions, this is because it's 1 Defence, and although the Super Attack could be helpful, the possibility of you spec'ing a 1-1 on range/magic prayer are slim, so therefore it's near enough obsolete. Same with Magic.)Saradomin brews: Very useful potions. Use these in conjunction with eating a Rocktail for extra HP being used. At the cost of nerfed stats. I would only recommend using a Rocktail-brew combination when you think you have missed a Protection Prayer with a DDS, or are -35HP. Sanfew Serums: Again, very useful and are definitely needed in all fights. They act as a Super Restore and an Anti-poison. This is to be consumed when either you're low on Prayer Points, or have used a Saradomin Brew. Due to Increased Stats being lowered through the Saradomin Brew, this is important as you wont be able to cast a Ice Barrage until one of these are used. (TIP: YOU CAN DRINK 3 DOSES OF BREW TO EVERY 1 DOSE OF SANFEW). Ranging potion: This is to be used after the Rocktail-Brew-Sanfew combination, (Preferably during an attack animation) in order to boost your Ranging stat again. You should ALWAYS drink this potion at the start of your fight during your Barrage attack animation. Super Strength: This is to be used after the Rocktail-Brew-Sanfew-Ranging potion. (Preferably during an attack animation) in order to boost your Strength stat again. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Moving on to some tactics for you.Tactic's we'll go over in this small guide.Fakies.Monkey Bridding.Double Fakies.DD Hugging.(That'll then conclude this Guide.)Fakies.Fakies are a tactic used (Or should be...) in every NH fight. This is the process of switching to a specific Combat Style, staying on that Combat Style in the intention of them changing their prayer due to it, then 1ticking back to the original Combat Style for the guaranteed damage. So, for example. (In simplified terms.)1). Switch to Mage gear.2). Wait for Prayer change.3). 1tick back to range and attack with the C'bow.Next Tactic: Monkey Bridding. The term of Monkey Bridding has many alternate names, it varies. It is also known as Movement Bridding, Gliding, Spontaneous Bridding ect. The idea of this is that inbetween attack animations, your character is running around in randomized movements, using the Attack Animations as a form of increasing speed. This therefore causes your opponent to be continuously be changing the camera angle to suit your new positions, and by that time, you're already south of him for an example. This is done by:1). Attack your target.2). Whilst you're in the attack animation, click somewhere far away (USE MINIMAP) and adjust Camera Angle in preperation.3). Switch as you break the Attack animation, and attack as you begin to move to the place you clicked to on your Minimap. You will notice you're moving a lot faster than usual.4). You will run in for the new attack animation to take place. Either change Protection/Offensive prayers accordingly, or Fakie.Next Tactic: Double Fakie. This is very similar to Fakies, however it requires you to be able to switch relatively fast. In order to do this, you want to make your opponent think that you're trying to fakie. So, you will perform a Fakie, but without the pause. This will make your opponent think he has the upper-hand and not change his prayer. Then 1tick fakie. So, in order to do this: (Starting in Magic Gear for example.)1). Conduct a Fakie, however without pausing. (Magic-Range-Magic.)2). Watch to notice if he changes prayers.3a). If he does, either Switch to Melee or cast Ice Barrage, depends on how close you are. (He'll be "in Protection From Range".) Great opportunity to DDS. (He wont be expecting it.)3b). If he doesn't change prayer, 1tick for range or DDS.And finally: DD hugging.DD hugging is the concept of using three things to your advantage. These are: Stalls, Camera system and the combat system.DD hugging is used when you have movement, but your opponent doesn't. (In other words, the freezing effect on your character has wore off, but it still current on your opponent.) DD hugging, when performed correctly, allows you free successful hits on your opponent, without the possibility of him being able to fight back until his Freeze wares off, where in that case you can re-freeze and repeat the process. To perform DD Hugging, you need to:1). Once your freeze wares off, during an attack animation right-click your opponent and click the option of:"Walk Here: Opponents name" (You need to Right-Click "Walk here twice.) Explained why further down.2). After the attack animation has finished, you will run inside of your opponents body, with himunable to attack you due to being frozen. Watch his Protection Prayers through manipulating your Camera Angle, or turning them off.3). Attack with whichever Protection Prayer he's not using.4). Whilst your character walks out your opponents body, Right-Click "Walk here" twice either JUST AS you start the attack animation, OR JUST BEFORE.(Why to Right-Click "walk here" Twice?) This is done because the combat system here interrupts this specific movement command once you receive or deal damage, and therefore wouldn't work. However, if done twice, you repeat the command both after and before you attack, and therefore flee back inside of your opponent as soon as possible. [Sometimes now however, this isn't necessary when done correctly.] ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________P.S. This took a LONG time to create, edit and add too. If this gets stickied I will continue adding and updating this guide as well as making it look overall better and more professional. Thank-you for reading, hope you enjoyed. Any suggestions or additions or such, let me know. Other than that, thank-you for reading. Edited March 20, 2016 by Fancy Boots Updates 11 Link to comment

I'll add this into the guide. 14 hours ago, Smackd said: Excellent guide, written perfectly. 16 hours ago, Audemars said: Very nice guide, perhaps it could help all the "no pray pls" kids understand what's going on 16 hours ago, Fruitiest said: This is actually a really nice guide.
